Welcome To Charleston SC Contractors & Builders

The kitchen is called the heart of the home for a great reason; prospective buyers have been known to fall in love with a home simply because it has an attractive kitchen. Since few home buyers are prepared to tackle a full-scale kitchen remodel when they first buy a home, they scrutinize the overall condition of the kitchen during their home tour. If they don't like what they see, the rest of the house isn't likely to win them over either. If you want your home to be appealing to home buyers, update your kitchen before listing your house for sale.

The most noticeable part of the kitchen is the condition of the kitchen cabinets. Although it may not be wise for you to invest in completely replacing your existing cabinets when you are preparing your house to sell, it is certainly beneficial to give them a facelift. If your cabinets aren't in the best condition, there are some relatively easy, inexpensive things you can do to make them more appealing to prospective buyers.

Update Cabinet Hardware

Making cabinets look modern and attractive may be as simple and inexpensive as replacing the hardware on the doors. Replacing outdated knobs and pulls with updated hardware will have a positive impact on the overall appearance of your kitchen, assuming the cabinets are otherwise in good shape.

Replace Cabinet Doors

If your cabinet doors are cracked, warped, or outdated, simply changing the hardware won't be enough to make your kitchen appealing to buyers. However, it is easy to replace your cabinet doors without spending a lot of money or going into a full-scale remodel. Most home improvement stores carry a wide selection of cabinet doors that can be purchased already finished, or ready to finish with your own paint or stain.

Refinish Cabinets

If the finish on your cabinets is dull or chipped, have the cabinets refinished, or refinish them yourself. Refinishing cabinets simply involves stripping the old paint or stain off the cabinets, smoothing the surface, and giving them a fresh finish. By putting in a little DIY time and effort, you can make older cabinets look like new.
